It started in July with lots of ‘little jobs’ that had been niggling my client for a long time: putting up pictures, mirrors, hooks, decor end panels, fitting skirting board and ‘blanking off’ odd gaps.
Since that first job I have:• built, adapted and secured flatpack furniture• put up curtain poles and blinds• prepared and painted gates and railings• removed built in office furniture• safety secured furniture • fitted kitchen wall units• built and installed a bespoke log store• fitted kitchen plinth and cornice • prepared and painted ground floor fascia• repaired, pressure washed and treated sheds • fixed wobbly bannister• fitted shower trims
I was a teacher of Design Technology for 36 years but took early retirement in July of 2019. I spent a few months doing very little and acclimatising to my new life. In early 2020, I realised I needed to keep myself busy and utilise the design and make skills that I had developed and refined over many years of teaching DT. I’m not a tradesman but I’m a competent DIY’er. Then CoVid kicked into the world and everything went onto hold. As we move forward into the new normal, so I have started flatcapping. My first job was on July 22nd in my home village of Wicklewood.
I don’t do electrics, plumbing, big ladders or digging holes. Other than that I’ll have a go at pretty much anything that needs doing.
If you haven’t got time, tools, skills or just can’t be bothered ... that’s ok! I’ll do it.
I charge £50 for 3 hours work and just £10 per hour thereafter up to a maximum of 6 on any one day. Subsequent days start again on the price structure. One half day, 3 hours, is £50. One full day, 6 hours, is £80. One and a half days, 9 hours in total will be £130.Two full days, 12 hours in total will be £160.
